Reducing Late Locates – multiVIEW Locates Inc. Ear to the Ground Magazine
With our depth of experience, we can locate almost every type of buried asset including fibre communications, high voltage electricity, high pressure gas mains, water and sewer pipes, switches, pressure plates and other complex infrastructure.
Utilities are under intense pressure to protect their buried assets and prevent damage. The Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act requires owners of buried infrastructure in the public right-of-way to register with Ontario One Call, and to secure locates prior to excavation. In light of these requirements, many utility owners are opting to partner with a qualified Locate Service Provider to transfer risk and reduce liability.
I had the pleasant experience of working with multiVIEW Technician Rachael at a Kenilworth Transformer Station in Hamilton. Very often I have encountered Locators that are not sufficiently trained or experienced to provide the service expected of them, or they come to the site unprepared. This was not the case with Rachael. She was well trained and confident in her ability. I have a good deal of experience with UG Transmission cable locates and have provided training to many Locators over the years. Keep up the good work!
multiVIEW Locates is a full service Locate Service Provider (LSP) that leverages a wide intersection of technology to locate almost every type of buried asset including fibre communications, high voltage electricity, high pressure gas mains, water and sewer pipes, switches, pressure plates and other complex infrastructure.
We also extend beyond field locating and will coordinate your Damage Prevention program. We offer ticket management/clearing services and will communicate directly with Ontario One Call. Leveraging a dispatch and reciprocal communication platform, we can effectively organize and manage communications, service requests, and quality investigations. Field technicians are equipped with tablets and smart phones for ease of communication, and requests are transferred in real-time between the office and field.

Our Damage Prevention services don’t stop at traditional utility locating. We can also help you implement and successfully carry out a Sewer Inspection Program using our CCTV Sewer Inspection technology and techniques. We can identify and diagnose potentially hazardous intersecting utilities, asses the performance of newly installed pipes and watermains, monitor aging assets, locate blockages, and more. High quality deliverables include a video, report and images of the inspection.
Our focus on Safety and Training means that we can tackle almost any sized project. We have the required credentials to manage high risk projects such as those involving gas utilities or high voltage electricity. Our Joint Health & Safety (JH&S) committee implements our Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Manual and Field Staff undergo significant Health & Safety training. We are also ISNetworld certified. Learn more about our commitment to Safety & Training.
Dispatching from four strategically located offices across Ontario, we implement a unique approach to resourcing that enables service coverage 7 days per week, 365 days per year. We also have an emergency response and escalation process in place to facilitate fast response times.
Many Locate Service Providers offer Electromagnetic (EM) Induction techniques only, meaning that they are limited to locating metallic buried assets or those containing tracer wires. multiVIEW Locates has expertise in a range of geophysical techniques to accurately identify the spatial position of all underground infrastructure, helping to avoid damage.
