Safety & Training

Our focus on Health & Safety forms the basis of everything we do. We integrate this commitment into our operations by establishing and maintaining a comprehensive Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Manual, fostering a culture of training, and maintaining the rigid standards required to be ISNetworld certified.

We’re committed to lifelong safety learning

Our Health, Safety & Training Managers lead internal training programs to equip staff with the skills they need to expertly perform work in the safest manner possible.  Each member of our field staff is Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) certified and receives ongoing technical, Health & Safety, and service-related training.

Safety & Training Technical Knowledge

Each utility locating technician studies a technical information package entitled “The Theory of Buried Pipe and Cable Location,” along with the MTO’s “Field Edition – Traffic Control Manual for Roadway Work Operations.” They receive in-class instruction from experienced, senior staff members on taking an investigative approach to utility locating.

Hands-on Safety Learning

Formal training is subsequently followed by several weeks of mentoring by experienced senior staff. Trainees are introduced to techniques and field methodology through demonstrations and in-field instruction which ensues with increasing on-the-job responsibility. All candidate employees must pass a final written exam with a mark of 80% or higher to be offered a trainee position at multiVIEW Locates.

Customer Care

Our Field Technicians receive customer service training that focuses on listening to and understanding the customer’s perspective, responding with empathy, and ensuring that the customer’s issues are addressed.

Refresher Safety Training & Assessment

Each year, Field Technicians undergo refresher training which largely focuses on problem-solving techniques and adherence to SOPs and health & safety regulations. Field Supervisors also conduct random field audits and document the results. Reports are pulled weekly to monitor productivity in the field, assess progress, and make decisions around maximizing productivity.

Our highly trained technicians also undergo a range of post-employment training, including:

  • ORCGA Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) Training
  • Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) Training
  • Certified Project Management
  • Working at Heights
  • Confined Space Entry
  • TTC Rulebook (3rd Rail)

We foster a safety culture

Guided by our Health, Safety & Training Manager, all multiVIEW Locates employees complete thorough in-house training on our Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Manual and Quality Management System (QMS) which are updated annually. Our Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) provides specific health & safety training, conducts health & safety audits, maintains health & safety records, and ensures adherence to all OHSA requirements within the workplace. We also adhere to an Environmental Management Policy that ensures sustainable operations.

We’re certified safe
